IMPORTANT CHANGES

  • The LOCATION for Tuesday, March 7th, has changed to: Campus Center, Room 203E (CC203E)
  • The details of the CATERED FOOD AND BEVERAGES provided by the Workshop can be found in the Schedule.

ACCOMMODATION

We are fortunate to be able to make use of accommodation options arranged by ICLDC5. Please follow the instructions on the ICLDC5 website under the LODGING tab (http://icldc5.icldc-hawaii.org/lodging.html).

TRANSPORTATION

The same instructions apply for ComputEL-2 as for ICLDC5 – see the MORE… TRANSPORTATION tab on the ICLDL5 website (http://icldc5.weebly.com/transportation.html). N.B. We do not have any shuttle service.

VENUES

ComputEL-2 will take place at the University of Hawaiʻi Mānoa campus, located north and uphill from the eastern end of Waikiki (Beach).  We will convene at two locations: (1) On Monday, March 6th, we will meet at the Queen Liliʻuokalani Center, Room 412 (QLC412: 4th floor); (2) on Tuesday, March 7th, we will move to Campus Center, Room 203E (CC204). N.B. The location for Tuesday has CHANGED. The locations can be found on the UHM campus map.

NEW! CATERED FOOD AND BEVERAGE SERVICE
The registration fee will cover a full but lighter breakfast with tea and coffee and boxed lunches during both days, as well as a late afternoon buffet in conjunction with the poster session. Furthermore, tea, coffee and water will be available throughout the workshop. Vegetarian options for the box lunches will be available for those who have requested so in their registration. Also, those dietary restrictions that have been declared to us in conjunction with registration will be accommodated.

For further details about the breakfasts, boxed lunches, and buffet dinner, please consult the schedule for both Monday and Tuesday.

ICLDC5 PARTICIPATION

We have been in extensive contact with the ICLDC5 Organizing Committee concerning the possibility for those ComputEL-2 attendees who have indicated to us their wish to potentially participate also in ICLDLC5. We have been in touch separately with those attendees about a special arrangement for ICLDC5 participation.

Since ICLDC registration spots are at a premium, we will not be able to advocate for ICLDC5 participation for any other ComputEL-2 attendees, who did not respond to our original request in our earlier emails.

REGISTRATION FEE

The workshop will have a registration fee of $75 USD, which covers breakfast and boxed lunches on both two days, coffee/tea during breaks, as well as a buffet dinner in conjunction with the poster session on Monday. The registration fee can be paid in conjunction our web-registration via a web-payment system. At this point, registration is closed.

PARTICIPATION SUPPORT

Participants without institutional support (due to their affiliation status with their university, e.g. students, or from universities in the developing world) may apply for support concerning their participation costs. This support for which funding is provided by a grant from the National Science Foundation is limited, and may include covering all or part of the flight and accommodation costs, plus waiving the registration fee.

In order to apply for participant support, please provide us by email (computel@ualberta.ca), by Sunday, January 29th, 2017, the latest, the following information:

1. Estimate for return flight costs to/from Honolulu, Hawaii, United States, from/to your origin (with supporting documentation such as a PDF of an Expedia search).

2. Estimate for accommodation costs following the alternatives provided on the ICLDC5 Lodging site. For participant support, we will cover up to three nights, in the first instance at one of the UHM residences, from the evening of Sunday March 5th to the morning of Wednesday, March 8th.

3. Motivation for why you would consider yourself eligible for participation support (e.g. status as student, etc.).

Based on the amount of applications and overall requested funding, we will make decisions as to how many applicants we can support and to what extent. Such support may be full or partial, and may specify a maximum amount (in USD) that we guarantee to reimburse to you, based on an expense report supported by receipts and submitted to us after the workshop.
